LATE COLONEL COSSGROVE.
MEMORIAL SERVICE AT AUCKLAND. (SPECTAt, TO "THE PRESS.") AUCKLAND, September 20. A memorial servicc was conducted yesterday afternoon in the Town Hall Concert Chamber to the memory of the late Chief Scout Commander for Now Zealand, Lieutenant-Colonel Cossgrove. The service was under tiho auspices of the Dominion Boy Sc'out organisation, ©ver 400 boys assembled at the eastern end of the Grafton Bridge and marched to the Town Hall to music supplied by the Temperance Guards Band. At the Town Hall Dr. J. A. Clinch, Provincial Commander, presided. The District Commanders, Messrs A. S. Oxlcy and R. C. G'igsby, were also present, and Colonel EL. R. Potter, O.C. Auckland Military District, was represented by Captain A. Attwell. Mr H. Stebbing, an honorary chief scoutmaster and organising secretary for the Young Citizens League, was also present. The chairman mentioned that the late Colonel Cossgrove founded the Scout movement in New Zealand, and had ever since been an enthusiastic worker in the cause. The Rev. G. B. Inglis addressed the boys, Archdeacon G. McMurray and the Revs. H. B. Wingfield, P. James, and J. H. Cable also taking part in the service. At the end the "Dead Mardh" was played by the band and the "Last Past" sounded. "The lateXieut.-Colonel D. Cossgrove was a vice-president of the Canterbury Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society, and atthe annual meeting last night a motion of condolence with Mrs Cossgrove and family was passed, members standing.
