RAILWAY ROLLING STOCK.
fNEW LOCOMOTIVES AND WAGGONS. (SPECIAL TO "THE PHESS.") WELLINGTON, September 20. The liaihvav Department announced some time ago that owjnfj to shortage of rolling stork, tenders were to be called abroad for 25 locomotives and 2500 waggons. These were to be additional to the locomotives and waggons that could be built by private 'firms in this country, or by the Railway workshops. '.Several tenders have been received for the supply of the 25 locomotives, and it is understood, although the contract has not yet been made, that the order will not go outside the Empire. One tender at least was received from the United States. The moncv involved is in the neighbourhood of £300,000.
