ROAD BOARDS.

AKAROA-WAINTTC. The Akrvroa-Wainui Eoad Board met at Duvauchelle on Saturday. Present—Messrs G-eo. Armstrong (chairman), T. Maeefield, W. Warner, and P. Cunningham. Permission was given Mr A._ Dtixbury -to ]ny a pipe line -under the road in Robinson's Bay. An application from Mr H. LeLievro for a sledge track was refused. In reference to complaints from Mr A, M. The Upper Ashburton Road Board met on Saturday, .'Mr Joshua Tucker presiding- Tho chairman reported a debit balance tit .the bank of £1215 10s 7d. The chairman of the Lagmhor School Committee wrote thanking the Board for the free use of tho' gravel reeerve as a playground. The chairman reported that u map-marking each hour had been prepared, and handed over to the Power Board Commjiee. It was decided to write to the Prime Minister and members of Parliament for Aahburton, Ellesmece, and Temuka protesting against the passage of the Mount Hutt County: Bill. It was decided that in view of the steps being taken to form. * Power Board for the district that no action bo taken for the present. Messrs D. Wood and A. A. Fooks were appointed to- represent the Board on the general committee .in connexion with the formation of a County Power Board. A general rate of 5-16 th of a. penny in- the £ was confirmed. It was decided to hold the annual "clean up" in Allenton on September 8 th, and 9th. WAKAMTJL The Wakanui Koad Board met on Saturday, Mr F. Frampton presiding. It was. decided to protest against the passage of the Mount Hutt County Bill, and to forward the resolution to the •• Prime Minister and the three district members. Mr Thomas Cavill was granted permission to plough reserve No, 1416 on the usual conditions. . It was decided to inform Mr Hadley that circumstances precluded the carrying out of any improvement to tho road leading past his works at the present time. It was resolved to call for tenders fot the grading of Le Britten's rood. SOUTH. WAIMAKARIRI EIVEE BOABD. — -« — The South Waimakariri River Board met yesterday afternoon, Mr H. E. Peryman presiding. There were also present—Messrs P. E. Jones, A. S. Bruce, T. Leslie, J. W. P. Lee, W. P. Spencer, and C. H. Opie. Leave of absence was granted Mr, N. K.. Bowden. Tho overseer reported that there had been two floods in the river since (he last meeting, but no damage bad been done bo tho upper works. At Stewart's Gully, however, the newly planted willows had sunk a little, which was only to be expected. The tender of Mr T. Salt, of £3 par acre, for leasing 1J acre 3 at Mason's Flat, was accepted. "" An application for transfer of leas© of Block 80, River Re&arve, from V. Calder to H. Spencer, was granted. Mr Jones suggested that a. close inspection of all the reserves should be made by members of the Board, working in small parties, each parly taking a certain number of the reserves. Mr Leslie said tha.t in view of the projected kgis-Istion affecting the control of the river, it would bo advisable for sonic members of the Board to make themselves thoroughly acquainted with the conditions existing at Rock Ford. It was agreed that a visit of inspection should be made to all the leserves, and that the whole Board should inspect the river banks at Rook Ford on September 23rd.
