It is officially announced that Lord Jellieoe, Governor-General-designato of New Zealand, will, with Lady ,1 ellieoo and family, leave London 'for tho Dominion by the Corinthic on August 19th. Captain Curtis, private secretary to Lord Jellicoe, and an advance party of the new Governor-General's household, left London for New Zealand by the Ruapehu on Thursday l?.st. Messrs J. H. "Williams, J. B. Norris, and C. M. Ollivier were passengers north by the Wahine on Saturday evening. General Booth has select ed StaffCaptain C. M. Rixon, for the past six years editor of the "New Zealand War Cry," for a similar position in Sydney. The iinveiling of the tablet erected by North Canterbury teachers in memory of "tho late Mr T. S. Foster will take place in the Training College to-morrow, at 4 p.m. Messrs J. C. Adams and J. McCombs, M.P., have been nominated for the vacancy on the Board of Governors of Canterbury College caused by tho resignation of Mr T. H. Davey. Bullock, Dominion Superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, and chairman of tho Amalgamated Society of Railways section of the Railway Tribunal, who has been seriously ill at his residence at Wadestown (Wellington) since Thursday night last, will be pleased to learn that his condition has somewhat improved. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Liston, who has been appointed assistant Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, left Duncdin on Saturday on his way to spend a holiday m Sydney. He will return to Dunedin for the consecration ceremony, which will take place about the middle of next month. At a farewell social, when Dt. Liston received a gift of £610 from Dunedin, Mosgiel, and Christchurch friends, he announced that he would devote it for the'purpose of founding a bursary in connexion with the Holy Cross College of Mosgiel, of which he had been president for the past ten years. Under date of May 23th our London corresponded writes: —On the eve of Ascension Day, at St. Aloysius Church, Oxford, the lt'ev. Charles Plater, S.J.> received into the Roman Catholic Church the Rev. John Muirhead and nis wife, Mrs Muirhead. For ten years the convert was a Baptist minister in New Zealand. He was educated for the ministry in England and Scotland. In 1900 lie was ordained in Ripon Cathedral for the Anglican Church. Ho afterwards worked as curate in several parish churches in Leeds and Manchester. Ho returned to Scotland in 191G, and became rector of St. Columba's Episcopal Church, Lonmay, Aberdeenshire. For the past couple of months Mr Muirhead served at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Banff.
