QUAETEELY MEETING,
Tho quarterly meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce was held lust mglu, iu- J. O. Hcrdiuiui prefidiug. Tlio President, in the course of his quit. I teriy address, said:—"l'ho Projrresa League was co.uniu-.ucatc.l with 111 connexion with tho latter from the Westland Chamber -with a view to arranging for a deputation to proceed to tho Arthur's Pass tunuel works to moot tho Ministor of Public Works to confer as to tho best means to adopt fur the early completion of the work. The Pro. gross League had the matter in hand, |nd would no doubt arrango for the conference in connexion with this important work. The following were tho real figures for Weil Coast stock trucked at Arthur's Pass for tit tv.-o'.vo months ending March 31st, 1920:— 2315 cattle, 19,593 sheep. There vers at piesent a nunibor of matters that the committee had in hand in conjunction with the Progress Loague, and by combining eUorls they hoped that good might result tor the benefit of the province. Ha would like to tako tho opportunity of congratulating the Progress League on tho excellent publication recently circulated by thorn, embodying photographic views of tho city and the various surroundings of Canterbury. Mr J. Longton was elected a member ot - the Chamber.
