ANNUAL LASTING.

The annual meeting of tho A. and P. Association was held last evening, Mr K. Mcintosh presiding. In presenting tiie niiuual report, the committee congratulated the Association on the progress made during tho year. Tho harvest had pidved a very satisfactory one, and the yields were well up to tho averago. Farmers were experiencing the samo ditficUity as kst year through the shortage _ of tiucks, and the conimitvce was of opinion that strong representation should be made to the Government in the matter. It was to be regretted that the embargo remained on the export of potatoes. The dairying season lind been a good one, but, like others, this industry was suffering from Government control. As to the frozen meat industry, the outlook for tho future did not appear very promising. What with the congestion in the stoicj and in the Homeland, it seemed that relief would not be obtained for some time. In referring to the new building the report stated that plans were prepared and tenders called for the work, but proved too expensive. Eventually the committee n.cccnfrd a teider for erecting the front half of tho building, ae per the original plan, at a sum of £1521, and operations would begin immediately a supply of cement was available. The finance® of the a-* "cia.tion were in a very satisfactory condition. Tho balance-sheet allowed recoipts £783 3s 9d, nnd expenditure £602 19=! 9d. The assets exceeded liabilities by £1691 18s. A motion v-ns carried rupnorting Port Lvtt-elt-on a canal, and the Hilcy report against thr? tunnel scheme. At the conclusion of the meeting a socia l evening wps held. The certificates curia won at tho r»eonf- "how wer» presented, and a musical protrnsmme was ?iven.
