BANGIORA. Tno Itangiora Borough • Council met last . .eight. Present—Tho Mayor (Mr C. I. Jennings), and Crs. H. B. Lane, 11. Boyd, W. A. Kowsc,. W.. Al.ison, .W. J. Bouse, "W. Murray, C. S. Ayers, and H. A. ArchdalL The secretary of the Municipal Association of Now Zealand wrote that tho annual sub- ' scriplion, had been increased by 30 per cent., :iud was now £5 Is. It was dccided to pay tho cmount. • The Acting-Electrical Engineer, Public Works Department, replying to requests by the Liighfacg Committee, stated that certain eonccssJOns would, be granted to users of power under cortain conditions. The matter was referred to the Lighting Com- • luittee. Tlio Cromwejl Borough Council forwarded a copy of a resolution urging the Government, owing to tho high- price of leather, to reimpose the embargo on the export of hides. It was decided to support the motion. Tho Hawera Borough Council forwarded a copy of a*.resolution urging -that the duty on children'-s boots should be removed. Tho resolution was endorsed. A circular- letter; was • received from tho 3iawienc&» Borough 'Council, 'advocating that tho cost of ■ Hospital ' and Charitable Aid institutions'should' be a charge on the Consolidated Fund. The Council decided to support tlio. motion. Tho Mayor and Cr. H. Boyd were appointed delegates* to tho conference of local ■bodies to'consider the Port question. Tha Mayor ' was appointed the Council's representative on the Canterbury Progress icogua. The "Waterworks Committee roported that "further consideration of the water supply scheme bo deferred, and recommended that 31) guineas bo voted to Mr C. James for •preparing the report. Tho recommendation ■ was adopted. S It was agreed to light tho streets till < fi.3o a-m. during tho months of June ' and July. It yas decided that no permits be' given to traction . engines' to. traverse tho main streets of tho borough during, tho next three zaonihs.
