I . j H.M.S. RENOWN v. NEW BRIGHTON SURF CLUB. At the Municipal Tepid Baths yesterday ! evening tho water polo match between | teams representing- H.M.S. lJenown and tho j New Brighton Surf Club took place, and j a fast and, at tames, exciting game result- ! cd. The ship's team waa at the disad- | vantage of not having had an opportunity 1. to practice together. Nevertheless the team made a credil-nblo showing, and the Bcoro j hardly represents the standard of theirplay. Thd match resulted in a win for the New Brighton Surf Club by 2 goals to 1. For I ths winners the 'scores wore made by R. ; Coulter and A. E. Summerficld; and br the 1 i ship's team Corporal Press shot a M>al at ! a rather awkward angle. On several occasions the Renown team spoiled their cha.noe3 of scoring by over-anxiety. ! The teams were:—H.M.S. Renown—Forj wards: Stoker Spiers, P.O. Edwards, Cor- ; poral Press; half-boel.-s: Barid-Serjrt. Baker, AB. Stevenson; frill-back: Lieut. Denbam; ' i goal: 1-st half A. B. Lee, 2nd half, Band- ! Sergt. Baker. New Brighton Surf Club— Forwards: R. Coulter, S. Hollander, A. E. I, Summer-field; haJf-backs: D. T. Coulter, F. L Collins; full-back": C. Bryant; goal, B. S. Knox. JTr C. Atkinson was referee. The "Flying Sonadron" race, which preceded the polo match, was won, after an exciting race, by the New Brighton Club's team.
