AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS' GRATUITIES.
! TO THE EDITOR OT "THE PRESS." I , Sir, —A decision of importance to ' Australian soldiers resident in the Dominion has been reached by the C9lUmonwealth Government. The applications for bonds for the war gratuity have now been distributed to post I offices. It has transpired that a numi ber of soldiers. who have left Australia have given power of attorney or authority to collect their gratuity to a friend, j relative, or agent in Australia. These I orders wity not be honoured or in any i way recognised by the Commonwealth I Government. The soldier should get in i communication with the headquarters of the military district from which ho I enlisted, and make application for his ' bond, which will be sent to him at his present address. The gratuity is at the , rate of Is 6d per day, from date of embarkation, for overseas to Peace Day (June 29th, 1919). —Yours, etc., EX-A.I.F.
