ADVANCES TO SOLDIERS.
« IMPORTANT A2OTOTJNCEICBNT. Prior to April 26th, when restrictions in respect of advances under Section 2 of the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act came into force, some discharged! soldiers had entered into engagements i in respect of the purchase of farms cr | dwel.ings, but owing to the restrictions! these cases were not dealt with by the! Land Board. It is now proposed that I in certain instances these cases should! be considered. Jlr«H. D. 31. Haszard, Commissioner i of Crown Lands for Canterbury, has re-! ceived notification from the authorities' in "Wellington that where bona fide engagements have been entered into by discharged soldiers, under Section 2 o"f the Act, for the purchase of farms and ■ dwellings, applications in respect of such engagements may be now received and in casts where it is shown that hardsnip will result from the ca=es nnt being dealt with, the Board is empowered to deal with each on its merits.'
