AAAROA. The fortnightly meeting of th© Akimn. Borough Council was held on "Wednesday. PreBent—Tho Mayor (Ur Geo. Armstrong) and Councillors Hunro, Parris, Piper, Davis, and Wilson. Leave of absence was granted to Cra. liecte and Parnbain. The New Returned Soldiers' Association ■wrote forwarding amendments to tlio Land Act, suggested- by tbe annual meeting o£ the Association, and ticking tho Council to support it in tlio endeavour to liavo those amendments incorporated iu tbo Act. Templin'a detailed report on the extension, of the Lake Eahema to the Peninsula was received from ■ the County Council. Tho North Canterbury Hospital ard Charitable Aid Board wrote in reference to the proposed erection of a maternity ho.no in Akaroa. Tbo Board .asked for iniarmatioif! regarding local contributions, nr.d present availsi>le accommodation. The request w;ta granted.
