RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION.
BRANCH FORM2D AT KAIAPOI. With tho object of forming a local branch of the Returned Soldiers Association, a well attended. meeting was held in the Orill Hall, liaiapoi, last night ilr W. H. Stark protided. _ Sir W. K. Leafier, seeretary of the Cbristchurch Association, addressed the meeting tnd explained the Association had already done for returned men in the way of obtaining from tlis Government increaaod in rotrospectivc allowances, mufti allowances, gitluity allowancoc, and allowances to nospiial oul-patient6. also tho rcd-uction obtained by the Association on passage money for soldiers Gidcoob from England. He urged all returned soldiers to bocome member? of tho Association in order that they might rar.ke, themselves heard in applying lo Hc«dquartere to have their irrievanoes rectified. • Mr Knight, of the Christchurch executive, also addressed the meeting. It was unanimously decided to form a branch of the Association and the following officers were —Pieeident, M.r m J. HStark- -ico-president, Rev. W. Ready; executive M~>pro T. Gibson (Kaiapon, J. Stokes OVaikuku). P.. Pawrson (East Eyreton), F. Bower lOhok-), and a Woodena repreeenUt've; eecretaiy. Mr A. J- Mcpherson; trea, surer, Mr E. Gray. Tho president, vice-president, and treasurer were appointed eon-.mitte® to strange for an exhibition of war tronhies in aid of tfco Kaiapoi War Memorial Hall. meeting' closed with hearty votes of thanks to Mr Leadley and Mr Knight.
