CULVERDEN-WAIAU RAILWAY.
With reference to the completion of tho Culvorden-Waiau railway, Mr G. W. Forbes, M.P. for Hurunui, roecntly sent the following telegram to Sir William Frascr, Minister of Public Works: —"When will your Department havo Waiau railway finished? The settlers during war period have been vejy patient with de-ay, but they axo anxious now for completion." The Minister has replied as follows: —"lie Waiau railway, the buildings are all finished, also the lice, oxcept the final ballasting. The difficultv in regard to tho latter is the impossibility of procuring another platelaying gang, without whoso services more men cannot bo employed. The District Engineer exrccts to complete tho work with tho present gang in November."
