ORGAN RECITAL.

There was a large attendance at St. Luke's Church on Saturday evening, when Dr. Bradshaw made a welcomo reappearance as a xeciialiet-, showing all his accustomed skill i;i (he interpretation of a well-chosen programme. Tho church is fortunate in possessing a very fine three-manual instrument, partly an old Bishop organ. but considerably onlarged ten years ago by Meeers. Norman and Beard. The more modern devices were used with good effect in Liszt's "St. Francis Preaching lo the Birds," ttnd Widor'o "Allegro Vivace," the hitter especially revealing once more the rcc it a list's superb iechniquo. By way of contrast Mozart's "Grand Fantasia in F" and Wesley's "Song and Fugue in C Major" were given with due solidity and rhythmical strength. Modern harmonic development was well illustrated by Debussy's j cthareal' "Andante," cleverly transcribed from I the string cuartet in G minor, and some beautiful solo etopa were revealed in the playing of Taubert's "Love Song," and Saint SacusV "Swan." Guilma.nt's joyous "Marchc aux Flambeaux," played with great spirit, formed «• fitting conclusion to a fine selection. Charles Clorkson was unfortunately kept away by indisposition, but suitj able vocal relief was afforded bv the inclusion | of two hymns which were heartily joined in by tho avliolo assembly. Many lovers of king of instruments will be glad if this recital proves to be tut the first of a serice.
