Speaking of the exhibition of Australian timbers at tho Technological Museum at Ultimo (New South: Wales), his Kxcellency tho GovernorGeneral (Sir Kenald Munro Ferguson) said:—''There is bound to be a world famine in timber. It may not even he a question of relying upon imports, because you may not be. able to get timbers at all. It is difficult to contemplate Australia without an adequate supply of timber, but nothing is more likely than that Australia within! a generation will experience a great hhortago in that direction. If all thai States will take the matter seriously in hand you can make the future safe.''
