The Electricity Committee's report recommended that the ncefseary 6ttp3 bo taken to rr.iso a loan of £150,000 for extensions, etc. Cr. Sullivan eaid that previously an erroneous idea had been given to the public that the elcctricily department of the Council had unstained a financial lass of about X4OOO. On the otheT hand, the correct position was that, notwithstanding the ravages of the epidemic and of the snow, the department had ehown a profit—a small one certainly, yet a profit—of £1300. Personally. he considered it distinctly wrong that Cr. Sullivan should quote figures that had not yet been in the hands of the Government Auditor. Eventually the report was adopted. It was decided to agree to a motion from tho Waihi Borough Council: "That tho Government be asked to bring down legislation making Saturday the statutory halfholiday." The resignation of Mrs Ada Welle as ono of tho Council's representatives on tho Technical College Boairl was accepted, with an expression of appreciation of her services. The Water Supply Committee reported that two wells had been sunk at St. Albans and good flows obtained at 268 feet and 278 feet respectively. The third well waa now down 218 feet, and waa driving freely. It was proposed to telescope with a eeveninch pipe aa soon as the driving became hard, with the intention of tapping the BSO feet flow. Five tenders had been received for the cupply of two motors for _ the St. Albans sub-station, and the committee recommended that Meeers Brown Bros.' tender at £549 be accepted.
