PARISH MEETINGS.

HOLY TRINITY, AVONSIDE.

At tho annual meeting of tho parishioners of Holy Trinity, Avonside, there waa a .large attendance, and tho vicar, the rvev. 0, Fitzgerald, presided.

The wardens' report and balance-sheet I showed a credit balance of £63 10s ?d. The I offertories for tho year showed a slight fall- j ing off • due to tho' influenza epidemic. A successful garden fete had been held in February, which yielded £90. In his., address, tho vicar thanked the parishioners for their loyal Bupport. He reported that tho eastern portion of tho parish had been formed into a new parochial district under tho charge of tho Rev. S. Parr. He announced that it had been dccided to hold a bazaar in tho Colosseum in September in order to reduce tho' parish debt. Church officers woro elected as follows:— Vicar's warden, Mr J. W. McGregor; parishioners' warden, Mr Morgan; vestry, Messrs Wardle, Saunders. Baker, Street, Jew'issy Foster, Page, Smith. Chrystall, and the Rev. F. A. Crawshaw; auditor, Mr W. H. Cheesman. Votes of thanks wero accorded to all church workers. A voto _ of sympathy was passed to Mr Sluis in- his serious illness. The meeting voted a bonus to tho vicar, and recommended the incoming vestry to take into consideration tho question of making a permanent increase in tho stipend. ST. AMBROSE'S, SHEFFIELD. At tho annual meeting of parishioners of St. Ambrose Church. .Sheffield, tho Bev.,W. P. H u shes, vicar, presided over a fair attendance. The secretary's _ report and balance-sheet showed that considerable progress had been made during tho year. The attendance had been well maintained, whilst there were substantial increases in tho number of receptions of Communion, in Sunday school ■scholars, - and in the offertories. After meeting all liabilities, thero remained a credit balance of about £50. In view of the abnormal expenditure and very abnormal Sundays during tho past year, this was considered very satisfactory. The healthy financial state of the church was to a great extent duo to the initiative and energy of the ladies of the Church Guild. Tho vicar thanked the Guild and its pre- ( sident for their efforts, and expressed tho liope that their good work would continue. Ho also thanked all church workers, and Mr Cf. F. Wright, for hia services as organist, synodsman for sis years, and secretary of the Stipend Fund for nine years, j Mr G. H. Judd having retired from tho ! position of Bishop's warden, -the vicar appointed Mr H. C. Townshend in his place. Tho elections of other officers resulted as follows: —People's warden, Mr W. J. Jenkins; vestry, Messrs G. F. Wright, J. R. Cullen, A. H. Sandrey, C. Wroth, G. Watson, p. Bradley,. G. Gray, A. A Jackson. ST. GEORGE'S, KIRWEE. At the annual meeting of the parishioners of St. • George's Parish, Kirwee, the vicar (the Rev. P._ Revell) presided over a good attendance of members. The vicar stated that he was glad to be ablo to eay that all the members of the church in tho parish had now returned from the front. The Communion services had been well attended during the year in each 1 oi the three contres. Tho Bumham Industrial School had been closed, but occa- ' sional services were still held in the district. The Paparua Gaol was visited by the vicar on' two Sundays in each month", i and this had greatly assisted to remove the financial difficulty of the parochial district. ■ The Festival which had been arraneed to tar:© place at West Melton, had to be abandoned. owing to the influenza epidemic. The J offerings to the various Mission Funds had been increased. The Sunday School had

devoted their offerings to th© Maori Mission and to th© Gela School, in Melanesia, the latter being for the purpose of training pirla in housework, r ursine, and other useful objects. A "penny a week guild" had been started, • and great interest was being taken in this matter, and th© funds were being considerably augmented by this -means. _ The finances of tho three centres were in a. very sound position. The West Melton Parish had smarted the year with a deficit of'£7, but now had £6 in hand J Halkott had a credit balance of 12s, and Kirwee £6 14s 4d. Tho Cemetery' Account was £8 12s 7d in credit. Tho election of officers Tesulted as follows^: Bishop's warden, Mr H. Savillo; people's warden, Mr H. lloper; vestrymen. Messrs W. C. Bedford, W. T. Street, K. Holmes, C. Page, H. Page, E. Harris, 12. Wilde, G: Turner, J. Bedford, and T. Cjysell. Mr W. T. Street was elected as a member of the Parochial Board. Tho guaranteo to th-> Stipend Fund was increased by 25 per cent. A hearty welcome was. extended to tho returned soldier meml>erß of the parish— Staff-Sergeant-Major Stewart, and Privates H. Page, J. Bell, A. Parson, L. Vickery, and F. Street —and a Lao to all tho other returned men in the district. Votes of thanks wore accorded tho layreader (Mr W. T. Street), to tho organist, th© churchwardens, th© vestrymen, and to all others who hod assisted to make the work a success. After the meeting Mrs,A. P. Anderson and th© Rev.-P. Rev ell contributed somjs, and refreshments were plentifully supplied by the ladies of tho uarish
