DOMAIN AND PARK.
ANNUAL INSPECTION
, On Saturday, the chairman and members of the Christchureh Domain Board made a tour of inspection of the parka and Botanic Gardens. Those prosent were: Mr H. J. Boswick (chairman). Dr. Chas. Chilton, Messrs Geo. Harrier, E. P. Stead, A. McKellar, W. H. Win - sor, A. Freeman. H. D. Acland, E. J. Howard, J. F. Scott, W. Nicholls, H. fcaglesome, and W. F. Hilson (secretary). The pnrty mot at the Curator's cottage, at 2.15 p.m., and, with Mr Young, immediately proceeded to the potato area in Hagley Park North. They then visited the Park on the Riccarton road sido, where some trees which are to be cut down were inspected. The site of the new bridge which is to be built across tho river Avon at the south ond of tho limo avenue, was then viewed, and also that portion of tho river bank next to the Hospital grounds, which is now being planted with prass, bulbs, And primroses. It was decided to make an ornamental- island in the river just here, which will materially add to the beauty of this already picturesque spov. Later in the afternoon the propagating houses wore visited, and, finally, afternoon tea was partaken of at the kiosk.
