The southern section of the Renvuera's complemont of returned soldiers will arrive at Lyttelton this morning by tho ferry boat. Thero are 42 mort and 9 wives for Christchurch and suburbs, besides others for Canterbury province, the West Coast, and Ota go. They are due to arrive at Christchurch at about 10.30 a.m. THE KIA ORA. A wireless message from the officer commanding troops on board the Kia Ora received in Christchurch yesterday stated that she was encountering strong westerly gales, and. heavy head seas, and that it Was impossible to give the time of her arrival at Lyttelton. Further advice received was that she would arrive at Lyttelton probably at noon to-day. As she has reportod ono case of infiuenza aboard, and as thero are stated to bo also six cases of mumps, it is certain that • she will be quarantined for at least 24 hours. Once the quarantine period is ended, tho Defence officials expect to complete their work within three hours. The ICia Ora has on board 15 officers and 964 of other ranks, of whom 296 are for Christchurch and suburbs, 175 for South Canterbury, 29 for tho West Coast, 20(5 for Dunedin, and 210 for south of Dunedin. Major Murphy, of Christchurch, is the officer in command. Prior to leaving for active service, over two years ago, he was officer commanding the Ist (Canterbury) Regiment. THE SUPPLEMENTARY ROLLS. Ho left New Zealand with tho Expeditionary Force for Samoa, and after returning to New Zealand again volunteered, and left with the 11th Reinforcement as R.Q.M.S., on April Ist, 191 R. After arriving at the baee in France he voluntarily handed in his strips to onablo him to get into the "Big p\iah." He was wounded in the bottle of tho Sommc, and returned to Oxford, England. Recovering from his wounde, he was sent back to France, and subsequently transferred to the Royal Air Force. Advice has been received that Mr Ronald J. Voes, of Marshland, who served with the Now Zealand Fi"ld Artillery in B«ynt and on the "Western front, hns been awarded the Military Medal for gallantry on tho field of action.
