NEW ZEALAND v. CANADA. (FROM ocn OWN CORKESrONDENT.) IjONDON, February 2). After a harl mitch, Canada was beaten, at Chiswick, tliis week, by the New Zealand Reserves, who ecored four tries—l 2 points— to nil. Our men -.vere:—Corporal Capper, Sergeant "VVateon, Stohr, Henry, B,S.M. Ryan, Corporal Yardley, Corporal Owk-3, Cann, Sergeant Whif.ington, Sergeant Cockc.roft, Gilchrist, Sapper Brucc, Gunner Bilkey. Sergeant Arnold. Singh. Within five minutes of the atari _the first try waa scored by "Watson, and Cockcroft marie a second one l>efore half-time. In each case tho score was led up to by some very clever passing: 'by the backs. After crossing over, both tries were made by Stohr, who w«3 in great form. "Tho Times" says that play tras always fast., the tackling hard •and accurate, and the passing eafe a.nd quick, with the result that the game was a good one to watch. "Sporting Life" eay3 that the New Zealander» were "an uneven side, and only occasionally flashed out into brilliance. . . Tho New Zealand 'jacks fell away from form, and for tho greater part the game was quite ordinary." "The Times" considers that the New Zealanders were much the smarter side, ar.d were attacking nearly tlie whole time, but they spoiled many chances by bad Daasing or bv kicking too herd. The tackling' ol tho Canadians was very sure.

NEW ZEALAND v. SOUTH AMIGA. Some interesting Kugby was seon at Richmond in thn match between N.Z. Hoadquartors iXV. and a South African XV. l'ho former were altogether tho stronger eide, and deserved their victory of 4 goals and 2 tries (26 points) to 1 goal (5 points). Tho match was a trial of both teams with a view to selecting representatives for the • International Services Passing. The N.Z. Headquarters team consisted of: Capper, Rifleman Ford, Stohr, Stariey, Turoai, Fea, Brovm, Singe, Sellers, Stauden, Naylor, West, Sergeant "Wilson, Sergeant Kieaick, Rifleman Bellis. The South African players were: Lieutenant StolL, Lieutenant Johnson, LancoCorporal Stopforth, Sergeant Dwnaresq, Lieutenant Bond, Simnaon, Lieutenant Barker, Lieutenant Maokinnoa, Sergeant Glencicsa, Captain Carbutt. Cat) tain Stookdale, Cadet Wolfe, Cadet, Bell, Cadet' Salonica, Wakefield. Stohr and Storrey were in good furro, and repeatedly outclassed the opposing barks, scoring IS points between them. Bo!lis, too, was a source of trouble to the other eide. The first score camo near the beginning, when Stohr smartly picked up cvfter Ford had tackled StolL The kick was iiot a success. ■ Storrey was responsible for a smart individual effort, and easily beat his man for the line. Stohr converted the try. Within five minutes Storrey again scored and Stohr converted. At half-time the New Zealand©™ led by 13 to 0. In the second half, Bellis boou added to tho score, Stohr again placing the ball between the posts. The South Africans made ground through a long kick into touch by Stall, which resulted in Wolfe • getting through and scoring easily. Tho South Africans were heavily pressed after this, Stohr again scoring, and converted the try, and later on Fea waa «uocessful with a fine run. The "Daily Telegraph" says that the work which led up to the eecond try by Storrey was as .fine a piece of Rugby oa oould be imagined, and there came other pieces of combination only less remarkable. Considering the deadly effectiveness of some of tho attaoks, twice as many tries might readily have been registered, but in the eecond half tho handling fell oS somewhat, and more than anoe Tureoi wae at fault. On the day Storrey and Fea were perhaps the outstanding backs, while all the pack played admirably, with Bellis exceptionally brilliant; GAME A3? COVENTRY.

New Zealand (B) XV. inert, a side of the Coventry Rugby team and won by 13 to nil. Heavy rain turned tho ground into a quagmire, apoQed the game, and accounted for the small attendance of 3000. The "B" side consisted of: G. Capper, Corporal R. Yardley, Rifleman E. Roberta, Sergeant "W. "Watson, "W. Henry, Corporal Tirreai, Corporal T. Owlee. Sergeant M. Cain, Sergeant H. "Whittington. Gunner A. Gilchrist, Sergeant E. Cockroft, Sergeant A. Bruce, Sergeant E. Arnold, Sergeant C. Tepene, Gunner A. Lucas. Keen tackling prevented any score till near half-time, when Tureai a fine penalty goal from crutaido the "25" line. In. the second half Arnold dropped a magnificent goal from an awkward angle, and Roberts earnod a try, beating Hall for possession, but Tureai failed to lift the ball from tho place-kick. Five minutes before tho finish a Coventry man was injured, and just before no-side Tepene broke through near the corner flag, Capper failing to convert. Apart from the forwards. _ Coventry were quite outclassed, some brilliant movement's heing shown by the New Zealand backs. "Watson, Roberts, and Tureai, splendidly fed by Owlea, always made headway. Forward, Coventry held an advantage, and some magnificent dribbles led by Muddiman, once or twice overran tho New Zealand defence, and Capper's falling on the ball on these occasions was plucky, if risky. "WIN BY THE R.N. DIVISION".

At Plymouth, R.N. Depot put up 1G ogainst the 3 made by a New Zealand XV. from Salisbury. Taosall, Lieutenant Barclay, and Mapu were included. The opening' was not promising, a slip by tho referee giving the Depot a try -which led to a, goal. Afterwards, .however, there was little doubt as to tho superiority of the Depot during tho first half, when the score was 16 to 0. After tho change, tho New Zealand men played better, but with the forwards liehl in the scrummage they relied chiefly on footwork, and some grand bursts weio made. Once Sergeant Barclay dribbled across the line, only accidentally to kick tho ball back into play as he wa%i stooping to touchy down. Lieutenant Bnrclav made a- run, but was held up. Some clever handling was shown by tho Depot backs, and in rapil succession the New Zealanders had to savo several time?. Just on time Francis gained a try for the Dominion.
