WALTHAM CLUB CARNIVAL,
The Waltham Ladies' and Men's Swimming Clubs held a combined inter-club gala on Saturday 1 . \The inolemency of tho weather somewhat spoilt ihe afternoon's' sport, which was witnessed, by a fair number :of spectators. Mrs A. Anderson,' president of tho Ladies' Club, congratulated local swimmers uoon their _ reoeut successes at, tho Champions'tup" Meeting, and declared the carnival open. -During the Afternoon Miss G. Shand, lady champion of New Zealand, gave an exhibition swim, while Master Jack Breward pfets- , the crowd with an exhibition cf trick und fancy swimming. Dr. Thacker, M.P., who was present, briefly addressed' the swimmers and their friends, • and promised two prizes for competition next season for clothes races. Mr A. Anderson also gave a special prize for the mo3t graceful lady swimmer in the Waltham Club, and this prize will be awarded this season. Tho following aro the iesulta:—
