General Hayes, in a speech at a diuner given by the British Aircraft Construction Department, read a telegram from Mr Hughes announcing the £10.000 prize offered by the Australian Government. He said it was a splendid offer, and expressed the hope that the other Dominions would follow suit. TRANS-ATLANTIC FLIGHT. NEW YORK March 21. Rear-Admiral Taylor announces that the Navy is arranging to fly the Atlantic within a month, with an airplane only. It is believed that the first British attempt is likely to be made with a dirigible. AIRSHIP PUTS UP RECORD. (Received March 23rd, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. March 22. A British non-rigid airship toured the coasts of Denmark, Germany, Norway, and Scotland, covering a total distance of 1285 air miles in 40J hours—a record. Pickles flew a new seaplane through the overhead structure at tho Tower Bridge at midday to-day. Ho was travelling at the rate of 120 miles an hour.
