THE FEELING IN CLUTHA.
SAME AS 1 ASHBURTON. STRIKING INCREASE IN VOTE FOR RESTORATION. There is no part of New Zealand that knows more about No-license than. Clutha. It was 24} years ago —nearly a quarter of a century—when the people of Clutha took the plunge.
What was the result of the experiment and the experience ? How does the opinion of the community of Clutha now, after this long trial, compare with tho opinion as expressed in 1893? This quostion was answered in 1914.
Clutha's figures at that poll speak for themselves. They prove beyond all doubt that No-license has steadily lost supporters in the Clutha district. Consider the figures. Between 1893 and 1914 tho total number of Clutha voters increased by 131 per cent., and the votes for Restoration jumped up by No Less Than 266 Per Cent! In other words, out of every 3 additional voters, 2 of them were for restoration of Licenses, and only 1 for No-liconse! At this rate of increase, the majority required for Restoration is only a matter of time, and Clutha will soon be free from the voire of No-license.
Electors, bo guided by Clutha's long experience. Vote for Continuance. Strike Out the Bottom Line. 69
