SATURDAY HALF-DAY PARADES.

TO TUE EDITOR OF "THE TRESS." j Sir, —"With regard to tho abovo subjoct, I would like to express my opinion of the unfairness of having to parado on Saturday afternqons in lion of sport. Now, take the last half-day parado, whicn was on the day of tho interprovincial cricket match, and yon will seo what a ridiculously useless sacrifice it was. Wo paraded at 2.15 p.m. at the barracks, and wore to go to tho Park. Of course, wo took tlio longest route, so that tho peoplo in tho city could admire or ridicule us in our semifootball garb. In coiirso of time we arrivod at the Park, and, aftor being divided into squads, we commonced work. First of all there was a very enlightening lccture on military subjects, about which wo had apparently hoard nothing before. This harangue by tho self-important military official lasted some fifteen minutes. After this wo turned our attention to a vory important tactical display of open ordor work. As wo hove only been doing this extremely complicated movement for tlio past four yoars, it was naturally very difficult, but we wero ably assisted by tho verbal elucidation shod oil tho subject by the proficient N.C.O.'s. Now this finished tho work for tho afternoon, and so we began our return march, and, needless to say, it followed the same circle. We were dismissed about 5.20 p.m. Now, do you think the abovo programme was one to merit our only halfholiday in-the week boing wasted? And this practico is becoming very prevalent.—Yours, etc., SENIOR CADET. A SITE FOR THE TOWN HALL. TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —In regard to the various proposals which have been put forward in the matter of a suitable site for our Town Hall, may I venture to make a suggestion now that the war is over and we are able to turn our thoughts to home affairs? Has anyone thought how very desirable a site from every point of view the Triangle would be. It is now a conglomeration of buildings which, from an artistic standpoint, the least said about- thqm tho better. Would it not bo possible to make a clean sweep of this hotch-potch of hotels, fish shops, etc., and in their place erect a building which for beauty and utility should he second to none in New Zealand.

I have been waiting' for months for someone elso to come forward with this suggestion, but none being forthcoming, I have ventured to address this to you.—Yours, etq.,
