WELLINGTON, March 3.

The men at the Gear Meat Company's works at Potone went on duty at four o'clock this morning to load carcases for a Home boat. They finished at 6 a.m., and were sent home to breakfast to return fet 8 a.m. Tho men's grievance at this arrangement was the loss of an hour's work between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. On returning at 8 a.m. they requested from the foreman payment for the lost hour. The foreman referred them to tho manager, who was interviewed at 10 a.m., and stated that the men's grievance was a just one, and ordered payment for the lost hour. The men then requested payment for the two hours lost-by waiting for the interview with the manager. On this being refused they left the works.
