The whole of Mr A. Candy's grazing land and practically all of Mr 11. Smith's run were swept by the tussock fire which was blazing at Camp Bay during Saturday and Sunday. Mr Smith is one of the returned soldier settlers at Camp Bay, and his run extends over the hill-top in the direction of Port Levy. The extent of his loss in ttock is not yet known. About one quarter of the land in the Bay leased by two other returned men, Messrs Flaherty and Guy. was swept iby fire. A large number of sheep ! affected by the fire died on the kilis ! yesterday. It is impossible as yet to ' appraise the actual extent of the loss J of stock. . Some of the sheep have run away from one run and become mixe-i up with the flocks of another, many have been burnt up in the fire, and others have been partially burnt or , otherwise injured.
