An attempt is being made to still further improve pig-breeding in Denmark by moans of a method or testing the ofrspri% of the stud animals at the various breeding centres. An average of two pigs from each selected sow is sent annually to the experiment station of the breeding centre, and. from the performance of these pigs facts are ascertained as to age at which killing weight is attained, the-food' units required to produce a given weight, and the quality of the bacon. These results are made the basis of selection of the stud animals, those being preferred whose descendants have shown the highest degree of thriftiness and growth energy, and havo produced the best bacon.
