THE AMERICAN BOARD'S OFFER. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and N. 4. Cable Association.) (Received December 29th, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, December 27. The "New York Tribune's" Washington correspondent learns authoritatively that the American Shipping Board's offer for ships of the International Mercantile Marine is 70,000,000 dollars, instead of 100,000,000 dollars, the amount formerly reported. There are eightyiive vessels, totalling 825,000 deadweight tons. IMPROVEDPROSPECTS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, December 25. Mr Watt, Acting-Prime Minister, announced that during the next three months 144 vessels are coming by tho Australian and New Zealand route, with a carrying capacity of 894,455 tons.
