The weather was showery at intervals for the Annual Meeting of the Manawatu Trotting Club. The attendance was good, but lack of horses caused a falling oif in the totaiisator turnover, as in only two raws were two dividends paid* Certainly the good stakes warranted better support. Jimmy Richmond was made favourito for the Maiden Handicap, and leading from start to finish, easily defeated • Conscript. The winner is a useful one, and should win in better company , , _ ~ Only two started in the Stewards Handicap. Kate Zolock took charge at tho end of a furlong, and won pulling up. Locanda Dillon was withdrawn irom the Cup, and Peter Mac was made favourite. Tho field began well, and Hal Junior quickly opened up a good gap from the others, who loft their feet in the early stages. Hal Junior won easily by twenty lengtlis. ilie Christchurch trained pair, Peter Mao and ; Nancy Stair both gave indifferent displays. ] The winner is a five-year-old marc by Hal j Zolock, and is owned and trained, in Hast- ; ings. . | Koraki was made "an odds-on favourite in j the Lintdn Handicap, and took chafg® £ fc the end of four furlongs from Bobbie is. and Nancy Wilkes. At tho mite post Koraki broke badly, and the field closed up. Koraki got going again, and finally won easing up from Bobbie B. Rotomanuka, finishing fast, beat Nancy Wilkes for third place. Reindeer was thought almost unbeatable in the Ladies' Bracelet. Morning Light led for three furlongs, where he was joined by Warlock, the pair racing just clear ol Reindeer. ' At tho end of a rrtile Morning Light retired, and Jewel Wood and-Rein-deer improved their positions. -1-hrco lurlongs from home Reindeer joined Warlock in the load, and in an exciting finish. Warlock won by a head. Tho winner vraa driven by A. Fleming. . . , Hayseed was made a hot favourite for the Christmas Handicap, with Eagle Abbey and Linotype also well supported. Tho favourita began well, but was soon displaced by Linotvpe, closely attended br Eagle Abbev. With" two furlongs to go,- Linotype tired, and Eagle Abbey won by °.ix lengths. _ Two Canterbury tramea trotters, xn Koraki and Wonderland monopolised the betting in tho Handicap. onchrfand was quickly in charge and won. easing up from Koraki, who, left his feet Chimes stood on the mark President's Handicap, and after the other onartette had raced in company for a mile Nancy Stair took charge and won easily from Waitoranui, and paid the best dividend of the day.
