Mr Frederic Villiers, the veteran war • correspondent, who lectured some Years- ago in Australia,- has recently been giving in New York illustrated lectures on the fighting in Europe. In 45. years' experience as war correspondent Mr'Villiers has "covered" 21 campaigns in different parts of the world. 11 reports in Japanese papers are to be credited, the French Government is already making preparations for the celebration'of victory. The Hirayama fireworks factory at Okagarva, near Yokohama, recently received an order from the French. Government through its branch office at New York for a million of what are called "pyrotechnic flags," presumably to be displayed in celebration of peace. The 1 rench flag is to measure 66 inches by 88 in<3ies, and will be sent up by a tube 6in in diameter. It is said that in 1916 .10,(WO pieces of fireworks were ordered by a British merchant, no doubt' in anticipation of demand on the declaration of peace, but such an order, as has. been received from the French Government is unprecedented.
