MEETINGS OF THE UNION

Two largely-attended meetings of i the employees of the Tramway Union were held yesterday to consider the latest developments of the tramway dispute. The secratary of tho Union supplied the following report of the meetings: "The question of the reinstatement of the six motormen was the burning question at both meetings, tho men being unanimously of the opinion that the Board should at once redeem its promise given on November 2nd. "It was unanimously resolved that the secretary be instructed to write to the Board and ask that the men be reinstated as promised, and that 24 hours be given for a roply. "Tho question of a further increase in wages can then be determined by a reference to the Arbitration Court." STRIKE THREATENED AT INVERCARGILL. (press association telegram.) INVERCARGILL, December 23. Tho tram employees have notified the Council that unless the dismissed motormnn, Eraser, is reinstated, they will cease work on Tuosday. They express dissatisfaction with the Council's offer of one penny an hour increase in wages, and ask for an investigation into the management.
