LINCOLN COLLEGE.

ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING

Owing to the fact that Farmers' Day ■—which wa3 to have been held yesterday—has been postponed, the annual prize-giving at Canterbury Agricultural College took place yesterday semiyrivatcly, only the members of tho Board of Governors and tho College staff being present, in the LecJturo Hall. Tho prizes were given out by Mr 11. A, Knight, chairman of the Board, who said that tho ceremony took place under much happier auspices than for tho past four years. The general feeling lor anxiety was now over, and he was glad to' say that the College had done its part nobly in the great struggle, and had helped to bring about the end which everyone had hoped and wished for. In connexion with that they would have to take up the question of a fitting memorial to those students who had served their country. The matter might bo one more for the attention of tho Board and the Old. Students' Association than for tho present students, but they also would have a personal interest in it, for tho memorial would bo one which would remain for all time, and should bo cf a character which, would perpetuate tho high traditions of tho College. It would stand as an examplo to students to come, as the Union Jack stood ar an example and rallying point for the Empire. Mr Knight paid a hipli tribute to the way in which all the staiF, especially Dr. 'had worked and carried on during the epidemic, and ho thought the students could best express their gratitudo by their future conduct. Tho speaker concluded by wishing nil the students a merry Christmas. (Applause.) Mi* ICnight then gave out the prizes and _ awards, tho recipients being heartily chccrod by tlieir fellowstudents,
