FOUN3> UNCONSCIOUS

An old man, whoso identity is un r . known, was found in Fitzgerald avenue near St. Asaph street in an unconscious condition shortly before 11 o'clock Just night. He was lying in the gutter. He was immediately conveyed to the City Police Station in a motor-car, and by the police ordered to the hospital, where ho was found to be suffering from concussion of the brain. He is a clean shaven man, and appears to be over 70 years of age. At 1.30 o'clock thig morning his condition showed a slight improvement.

Mr W. J. Ferguson, of Darfield. accompanied by his wife and child in a side-chair, was motor-cycling aloufr the Riccarton road yesterday afternoon when the machine skidded on the tram-lines, and overturned. Mrs Ferguson had her-right leg fractured, but the babv and Mr Ferguson received only minor injuries.

An inauest was held at tho Metliven Courthouse on Sunday, before Mr James Cow, District Coroner, in con-rv nexion with the death of Patrick O'Connor, farmor, Gcraldine, who waa< killed through a motor-car accident near the Methven approach to the traffic bridge across tho north branch of the Ashburton river, near Alford Forest. A verdict of accidental ' death was returned.
