WELLINGTON, December 16. Sir James Allen, referring to tho evacuption of tho German internees on Somes Island, and tho V.D. cases from quarantine Island in Otago Harbour, said it might be necessary to quarantine troopships at any time. Troops were returning, in large numbers, and if influenza should have broken out on any of tho ships, tho troops would have to be quarantined.

Regarding the suggestion that V.D. cases should be put on some other island, the Minister said he did not know of another island on which they could have bewn put. Featherston wds the only place to which thoy could conveniently be taken. There was accommodation there where the men could bo kept under control sufficiently to prevent their getting out of camp. It was reported that most of tho mon were getting well, and it was hoped to release most of thom before very long.
