It is reported from Posen that troops have summoned the fortress of Posen to surrender. They also demand the surrender of the -whole province. Posen is a province of Prussia* ated in the North German 1 lam, between Brandenburg and Russian roland. More than half the popu'atwn consists of Poles. General Mackensen's army, broken into soveral parts, is marching westj ward—twenty thousand via Kronstadt, and thirty-five thousand via Orsova. Before the armistice was signed General Mackensen's anny "was in Kpumania. It is evidently marching homewards through Austria-Hungary. A PELL-MELL RETREAT. SOLDIERS SwiPT OFF TRAINS AND KILLED. German newspapers describe the pellmell retreat of the German soldiers, who commandeered the trains, even the roofs and footboards of which were crowded. Some were swept off and killed when passing through the tunnels. The hopeless disorder is reminiscent of the terrible scenes in Russia. Pillaging and looting are in full swing, and the soldiers frequently attack the gendarmerie.

EXPLOSION IN A FACTORY. 200 PERSONS KILLED. LONDON, November 21. The "Tagliche Rundschau" states that over two hundred persons were killed by an explosion in a factory at Cologne, following the revolutionaries unsuccessful attempt to persuade the workers to strike.
