WORK OF THE SESSION.
EARLY DEPARTURE OF LEADERS. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, November 13. To-day, in moving the adjournment of the House of Representatives till 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, as a mark of respect to the memory of Messrs A. H. Hindmarsh and A. W. Rutherford, the Prime Minister said it was impossible to adjourn for a longer period, as the Leaders of the House would have to leave for Home at an early date to attend the Peace Conference, and the bulk of the important business of the country must be transacted by them. The question whether the House would continue its sittings after they had left would be decided later. There was no intention to rush business through the House. (special to "the press.") WELLINGTON, November 13. When moving the adjournment of tho House of Representatives to-day, Mr Massey made the first official statement that he_ and Sir Joseph Ward would bo leaving for the Peace Conference jn the near future. He suggested that next week members should sit in tho morningj afternoon, and evening, and deal with the important work of the session, including financial measures. Several members urged that the work ought not to bo rushed, and Mr Dickie protested that important legislative proposals that had boon hold over for four years on account of the war should not be further delayed. The House should bo able to handle them even if the two party leaders were away. Mr Massey's replies were not quite definite, but they indicated that tho Government was proposing to end tho session before tho garty lenders left for the Peace Conference. The point will come up for discussion again.
