Sergeant and Mrs John Patrick left last night for Wellington, after a holiday spent in Christchurch, and the 60Utll. Visitors to Christchurch who are staying at the Glarendon are: Mr and Mrs Herbert Brown (Mount Thomas) and Mrs H. J. Lewis (Oxford). Mrs Bernard Wood, who has been on a visit to Auckland, is at present staying with Sir Joseph and Lady Ward, Wellington. Mrs C. G. Dalgety has returned to Waitikiri, Marshland, from a visit to Dunedin. Sirs Bampier-Ciossley, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs Hunt, Auckland, has returned to Queen's avenue, Fendalton. . Mr and Mrs H. L. Glover, Mrs J. Greenfield, and Miss Hume, who have been on a visit to Christchurch, motored through to Dunedin yesterday. Mrs Tyrell-Baxter (Timaru) is the guest of her sister, Mrs Denys Hoare, Rugby street. News has been received that Lieu, tenant Reginald Gillon Christophers, eldest son of Mr A. Christophers, In- ! vercargill. had died of wounds. - Bb married the second daughter of Mr P. A. Vyner, of Southland, who, with her two little sons, is living in Remuatfa, Auckland. A sister of Mrs, Christophers is Miss M. Vyner, of Fendalton. A section of the summary of the report on work done in July by the British Red Cross Society in Egypt reads"The highest praise should be given to the cooks in our Red Cross invalid kitchen. In Egypt and Palestine alone , they have cooked between four and five million special invalid diets. Havin<* regard to the fact that these ladies are ! cooking in hot kitchens in the great heat of Egypt this record must surely i be regarded as a great achievement."
