WAR IN THE AIR.
AIR MINISTRY'S REPORT. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Keuter'e Telegrams.) (Received September 22nd, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 21. The Air Ministry reports:— "Last night we dropped 17-tons of bombs in a successful attack on works at Mannheim, on wharves and factories westward of Karlsruhe, on blast j furnaces at Burbach, and on aerodromes at Bouloy, Frescaty, and Morhange. A large fire broke out at Karlsruhe. Good bursts were observed at Mannheim. We directly hit hangars at Frescaty and Morhange, and shot down one hostile machine. One British machine has not returned." sin core;las haig's report. Sir Douglas Haig's aviation report states: — "Despite low clouds and frequent showers, orur aeroplanes carriod out useful work on September 20th. We destroyed sixteen hostile machines, and drove down three uncontrollable. Eleven of our machines are missing. Wo shot down in the night-time a German two-engined bomber. Anti-air-craft guns have brought down two additional hostile machines during tho last three days. A total of 26J tons of bombs was dropped on Friday."
