Amongst them aro the following Nov.- Zealandeis: — Di?tir.gui?hod Service Cross: Lieut. Malcolm ri.' Kirkwood. R.N.Y.R. tOnehunga), who volunteered for ivscue work, and shewed coolness and courage. When his vessel v.-as damaged alongside "Brilliant" and the engineers gassod, ho went dowu to tho engine-room, which was full of fumes, and started tho starboard engines, thereby saving the vos6el from 'being sunk or captured. Shortly afterwards ho lost consciousness and was resetted with difficulty. Conspicuous Gallantry Medal: C.M.M. James Attwood, R.N.Y.R., and C.M.M. Sydney H. Fox. R.N.V.R. (both of Wellington). Distinguished S i,vico Modal: C.M.M. Roy L. Alexander. U.f.Y.R. (son of Mr T. A. Alexander, Tamak* "Wostl; C.M.M. D PuJsford, 11.X.V.1U of Mrs A. J. Canning. Eastbourne, Wellington), both for services in picket, boats, motor launches, and motor boats. Mentioned for Distinguished Services: Commander Victor L. A. Campbell, D.5.0.. R.N., of Scott's last Expedition; Lieut. David E. J. Macvean, R.N.Y.R. (Christchurch): Lieut. Willie in A. "Wilson. K.N.Y.K.. Wellington); C.M.M. Roland A. Mever. R.N.Y.R. (Christchurch): C.M.M. Lrnes't V. Smith. R.N.Y.R. (Dunedin). Promotions: Eneineer-Sub-Lieut. Edgar Meikle, R.N., H.M.S. Intrepid—formerly of the N.Z.R.B.—has been promoted EngineerLieut. for "valuable services throughout tho preparation for and during the operation. It became necessary to blow tho 6inking charges before ho co ild get out of the engine room. He displayed the most adimrablo spirit throughout." Sub-Lieut. T. Turnbull, R.N.Y.R. fV\cllinCTton) was promoted Lieut. He was second in command of M.L. 566 when tho vessel was in an extremely exposed position for several hours. "He sot a splendid example to Ins crew and materially assisted in tho maintenance of tho smoko screen nt this dangerous point."
