LADY LIVERPOOL FUND.

DEPOT NOTES

Among the numerous acknowledgments that arrived from the front in i.rf week's mail was one from a corporal in 306 th Infantry, U.S.A. The American much appreciated the New Zealand gift parcel. The Lady LiverSol £fts are sent entirely to the New TealaSd Division, and the acknowledgment of a parcel by an Ajnerican soldier bears out our cable messages to the effect that American Regiments are fzhting with the Dominion forces. jt i* also an interesting fact to know that the American people are sending rifts to the New Zealanders; one Sjiool ™ New , Yor H havi P, s sont 500 pairs of socks to the 2nd Cantnrburv Battalion. The CHRISTMAS parcels are shipped but the special fund is still short of the required amount, and donations may still be sent in. Host excellent gifts for the Christmas parcels were received from the School children and country branches. The KNITTING Competition is running very close in several branches. The socks sent in are of very good quality, and will bo specially welcome {a the trenches as winter advances. A musical treat is being arranged by the Methodist Schools, usslsted by members of choirs. Special music has been obtained from England, and, under the leadership of Mr H. Gladstone Hill, hundreds of young singers have been practising each weei for the last two months. Leading instrumentalists in the city will form an orchestra 40 or 50 strong, while the choir will consist of nearly 700 voices. The festival is under the patronage of her Excellency the. Countess of Liverpool, and the whole of the proceeds will be devoted to sending trench comforts to the front.
