EXTENSION OF* PERIOD PROBABLE. \ (szxcial to °thk nucss.") WELLINGTON, August 28. The Minister in Charge of Imperial Supplies (the Hon. D. H. Guthrie) has communicated to the Imperial authorities, through Mr Massey, the request of the meat producers of vhis country for an extension of the purchaso of frosen meat beyond the present agreed period, which ends three months after the war. The new proposal is that the purchase shall continue until Juno 30th following the cessation of hostilities. Mr Guthrie said to-day that the extension of the meat requisition .was not yet definitely settled, but everything pointed to acceptance bv the Imperial Government of the offer made on behalf of the New Zealand producers.
