ANOTHER PURCHASE IN
AUSTRALIA
TIIE PRICE FOR NEXT SEASON.

AUCKLAND, August 12.
The Hon. W. D. S. MjcDonald, Minister of Agriculture, announced that a further '2.000,000 bushels of wheat nad been purchased in Australia on the same terms—namely, as 7Jd a bushol—as •hose upon which 2,000,000 bushels woro purchased last month. The New Zealand Government provides the ships for transport, the wheat being delivered f.o.b. in Australia. Ono shipment is already oil the way, and should arrive m Auckland in u fow days, and further treiguts have been arranged at internals without interfering with the intercolonial carrying service. As to the iviieat production of the .Dominion, the Minister said that tho winter sowing had been far less thanlast year, and a smaller spring sowing was also expcctcd. Farmers had been unfortunate for the past three vcars in getting low yields, but if tho average timing the coming season was 23 or 30 bushels an acre, this, with tho addition ot a million bushels from Australia half-yearly would assure the supply of wheat for the Dominion's requirements, S' C fi h : VCr ° s'oo5' 000 ' 000 , b "shels monthlv fo flour purposes, and 100,000 bushels for other nses.
