H 10 The readings taken at the Ashburton Domain weather station, .at 9 a.m. yesterday, were:—Barometer, 29.76; thcrmouieter, max. 59, min. 33; frost 6deg. SUMMARY AND FORECAST. An intense and extensive •westerly storm area still envelopes the Dominion. Westerly galea and ( stormy condition, have prevailed, with heavy rain in most parts, and snow on the high leveJs. The rivers in Westland are reported to be in flood to-day. Present indications are tor a continuance of stormy weather and heavy rain generally, •with rivers flooded in the western districts of the South. Expect wost to south-fresh gales, the barometer unsteady, but rising Goon in the South.
