COUNTY COUNCILS.
EYRE. At the last meeting of the Evrc County Council there wero present—Mr F. G. Horxell (in tho chair), Messrs Kvana, Ward, Power, Mcintosh, »nd Rich. A resident wrote bomplaining of the manner in which a neighbour was allowing weeds to drift down a creek in placo of pullinK them out. It was resolved that tho clerlt interviow the Council's solicitor and ascertain if tho Council could prcsecuio the offender.
H. G, Orchard wrote accepting tho Council's offer to clean out the Ohoka creek running through his property each alternate year. It was resolved that the Council make every effort in iis power to get the road formed to tho freezing works, Kaiapoi.
It was agreed that Messrs Evans and Power wait on the lessees of reserves in tho county and ascertain what steps they are taking to cope with tho growth of gorae and broom.
It was resolved that Mr E. Power be paid 45e for keeping the drain adjoining his property, Woods road, clean for one -year. It w»» agreed that persons allowing pigs to trespass on tho Eyre embankment be warned that they ar® liable to prosecution. It was decided that tho following resolution should be forwarded to tho North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board: "That this Council views with extreme disfavour the continued administrative expenses, and considers that the time has more than arrived when economy should be practised in evory department." It was resolved that the Lighting Committee call a meeting to discuss the lighting question, so that person# interested should have as. opportunity to state their requirements.
The olerk was instructed to get willows and broom cleared out of tho bed of the river Eyre from Burgess's crossing to Bailey's crossing.
