CONSOLIDATED FUND.
(FItESS ASSOCIATION* TELEGHAM.) WELLINGTON, May 23. Tile details of receipts and expenditure under the Consolidated Fund for the past financial year are published in this week's "Gazette." The Finance Minister on April 30th intimated that there was a surplus of revenue over expenditure for the year of five millions. The details and comparative figures i:ic: — ORDINARY REVENUE.
The expenditure under permanent ap- j propriations increased from £6,090.805 in 1916-1" to £6,665,810 in 1917-18. The principal items were: —Interest and sinking fund, which increased from £4,014,791 to £4,430.779; war pensions from £150,165 to £010,353; and old age I pensions from £453,085 to £612,463. The expenditure under annual appropriations at the end of the two years showed an increase of nearly half a million. I
