DISTRICT NURSES.
ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION.
Tlio annual meeting of tlio Nurse" Maude Association for District Nursing took place yesterday afternoon, Mr AY . Heoey presiding over a small attendance. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (which havo already been published), the chairman said that ho. was pleased there had been a substantial 'increase iu subscriptions owing to the committee having appointed a canvasser. Ho referred to the permanent fund which the Association was endeavouring to raise in order to make itself self-supporting. This fund had now reached illooo, and life hoped that subsequent committees would endeavour to retain the fund for the purpose for which it was originally intended. Tho outstanding feature of the Association's year had been the inauguration of the building fund.. Tho conditions under which the nurses had to carry on their work were so bad that it was imperative that a new bnildin uiouitl be provided for them. It had been decided to havo a street collection, an 4 Juno 19th had been set aside for that purpose. He hoped that in tho now quarters provided for them the work of the nurses would incrcaso in volume. Mr Heece's remarks were supplementjd bv Mr Charles Bean, who said that a strong committee was organising the appeal to the public, and was confident jf success. Tho report and balance-shcct were adopted. Tho following officers wero elected for the ensuing year:—Mrs R. Heaton Rhodes, Mrs W. Irving, Rev. A. T. Thompson, Mr P. L. Hallenstcin, Mr W. G. Jamicson, Mr J. GVPrudhoo, Mr Chas. Bean, and Mr W. Recce. A vote of thanks was carried to the lion, auditors.
