CASUALTIES.
SUICIDE. James Bunting, a labourer, aged 63 years, was found hanging from one ot the trees at the Riccarton Racecourse yesterday afternoon by Constable Hannafin and Mr McLcari. The deceased lived at Fleming street, Belfast. lie had been staying with his married daughter, Mrs McLean, of Yaldhurst road, ana disappeared on Monday. It was thought he had gone back to Belfast, but on it being discovered that this was not so, a search was instituted. with the foregoing result. Deceased had complained ot pains in the head on Monday, but nothing serious was thought to be the matter with him. An inquest will probably be held shortly after o p.m. at the Christchurch Hospital to-day. (press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, May 22. A young woman, Miss Alice Pitt, formerly of 136 Cranford street, St. Albans Christchurch, who was visiting friends' in Wellington, was found dead in her bed this morning. It is believed that sho had been under medical treatment in Christchurch. A Press Association message from Hastings states that the condition of Mr R B. Langworthy, of the Hiitt. Wellington (who represents the Lister Shearing Machine Company), as result of injuries sustained throuqn a motor-cycle and side-car colliding with a trap near Fernhill on Monday night, is serious, and causing Kr a Y° anxiety. Mr C. Stubbs, who was driving the motorcycle, is not seriously injured.
