« SUMNER CLUB. A meeting of tho committee of the Sumner Life Saving and Surf Bathing Club wad held last night, when Mr 11. Buttle prenicioW. Messrs W. Miller, H. Coerins, and H. Lane wrote resigning their seats on tho committee owing to having gone into tamp with the Expeditionary Forces. The. secrotary of_ tho Now Zealand ' Methodist Bible Class Union wrote tliankinff tho club for the use of the pavilion, and the wolcomo extended during the rccenl camp at Sumner. T[)o eub-committeo appointed to consider the proposed alterations to tho rules of the Canterbury Surf Association, submitted a report which, after consideration, was left in tho hands of tho delegates to deal vith. The captain reported that classes of instruction were being well attended, and the whole of tho life saving plant rcnovatod.
