CASUALTIES.
A SOLDIER'S DEATH.
Mr H. W. Bishop, Coroner, held an inquest yesterday on the body of Pnv&to Raymond Francis Murray, a returned soldier, who died in the Christchurcli Hospital at midnight on Sunday. Sergeant-Major Woodfield, of the Defence Department, gave evidence or identification from deceased's military papers. Murray had received a bullet wound in the head in action. Dr. Will, who conducted the postmortem examination, gave evidence of tho injuries to deceased. It was obvious that a bullet had passed through Murray's head, causing a fracture the skull. A verdict was returned that deceased died from traumatic epilepsy, caused by a shot wound received in action. A collision between one of the Riccarton tram cars and a trap containing aXi eldaSy farmer named William Stewart, of Sneddon street, Kaiapoi, and his wife, occurred in Oxford terrace yesterday morninp. Tho car was slightly damaged. One wheel of the trap collapsed, but the occupants escaped with i a shaking. J
