RACING AND TROTTING NOTES. (By "Looker-On.") The Wanganui hurdle horseman. E. Copes take, has been discharged from the Military Camp at Featherston, aniUil resume riding this week. The Auckland 'chaser Gluepot is to be nominated for several important steeplechases to he run during tie •winter in Australia. All going well, he may be sent across on the conclusion of the Auckland Winter Meeting. On Saturday morning, Trontham Ivorero went twice round the, bteepte chase course, jumping well, lhesirtor to Tarero is owned and trained by a Itussoll, whose husband is in camp. Korero will be ridden by H. Mcbweeney at "Wanganui. Several racehorses, including Blairfinde, Trickery, Mystic Light, aad |Ouudic wore offered for sale at Blenheim on 'Thursday, but buyers were scarce, ; and none of them changed hands.

J. Roacli is to have the mount on To Onga in the Great Northern Hurdles. Te Onga gave a good display of-jump-ing at Ellerslie on Thursday morning, when schooling with Fisher. The ex-New Zealander Ronald Cameron, who had his leg broken at the recent Albury Meeting, had the injured member put under the X-rays, when it was discovered that a small bone was overlapping. The leg had to be # again broken and re-set, and Cameron is now making excellent progress towards recovery. Fisher disgraced himself properly at Ellerslio on Thursday, morning, when schooled in company with le Onga, and the gallop would not be very- pleasing to his Great Northern Hurdles supporters. It may not, however, be wise to attach too much importance to the display, for the son of Maniapoto will probably do better in company, although personally (writes "Whalebone" in the Auckland "Star"), I inchne to the opinion that his lack of. confidence which, seems apparent in his jumping, will alwavs 1)0 against liim. 3? isiier looks remarkably well.

(Br "Searchlight.") Acceptances for the South Wairarapa Trotting Club's Annual Meeting close to-morrow. Amongst those drawn in tho recent ballot, aro Mr J. I>. Parker, owner of Erin's King and Erin's Queen; R. J. Munro, trainer and owner of Driftwood, Huon Drift, Rorke's Drift, and several others; J. D. McGregor, and R. Humphreys. The Canterbury Park Trotting Club's grounds and track are looking exceptionally well, and with the several improvements recently completed the club will be well able to cater for the largo crowd that usually patronises its Winter Meeting. Thirty-five additional stalls are now nearing completion, and accommodation will be available for all tho horses that may be in commission on the day. The track is in first-class order, and, weather permitting, will be available for trainers to work their horses on on Monday and Thursday or next week. At Canterbury Park yesterday, Oinako, with tho gear on, and driven by H. W. Franks, paced freely over- two miles at three-quarter pace. Tho son or Harold D-i'.lon is well forward, and is the only horse that Franks has in work at the present time. N. L. Price's pair, Imperial Crown (harness) and Bridgewood (saddle), were companions in a couple of halves, both moving well. Millie C. and Woocldrift worked to-' gether over a mile, the former showing to advantage. Goldstream, with W. R. Thomas in the saddle, gave a very moderate display, absolutely refusing to do his best. S. M. August gavo Dimness long, solid work. The Blackchild mare, who is looking very light, did not pace well. Half-pace was allotted to a nice j three-year-old filly by Harold Dillon from Millie C. by W. R. Thomas. So far she has not been asked for much, but what fast work she has done suggests that she will be a useful stakewinner nest- season. I. Nelson, the Addington trainer, and T. AV. Price, at one time interested in trotters, went into camp on Monday. WANGAKUI TRAINING NOTES. (I'll ESS ASSOCIATION" TELEGRAM.)
